Fears of ‘tripledemic’ as RSV vaccine rolls out in Sussex

RSV, Covid-19 and flu vaccines have been available since mid-September, but health and care leaders in Sussex are concerned that many eligible people remain unprotected.

Dr Bikram Raychaudhuri, GP and clinical director at NHS Sussex, said the vaccines are being offered together because “all together they form what we fear – a tripledemic”.

He described it as “three viruses circulating through the community at the same time, holding hands and, unfortunately, seeking to cause harm.”

NHS Sussex said eligible people can book appointments via the NHS website, the NHS app or by calling 119.

It said: “Eligible people should book now and not wait for an invitation, although GP surgeries and other local NHS services have already invited more than 11 million people to come forward and will continue to do so.”
