Resident fed up after 5 accidents in 1 day on Clough Pike outside her home

CINCINNATI (WXIX) – One day, one place, five accidents. A tri-state woman says she’s fed up with accidents continuing to happen in front of her home.

Sunday’s five accidents occurred on Clough Pike, between Berkshire Lane and Five Mile Road, says resident Sarah McRae.

“There are accidents several times a month, every time it rains, so there was a problem right away,” McRae explained.

McRae notes that many of the accidents involve vehicles crashing into the guardrail on the opposite side of the street or spinning out before coming to a stop in your yard.

“We didn’t take the dog into the front yard because of that,” McRae admitted.

While McRae finds refuge in the fact that her house is on top of a hill, other neighbors don’t feel the same way.

One resident says he has lived at the top of the hill for years and there have actually been cars that have come up through his yard and hit his house.

He says tire marks show where a vehicle came onto his lawn in one of five crashes on Sunday.

After the recent series of accidents, McRae wrote on Facebook about what had been happening.

To their surprise, the comments section was filled with drivers and former neighbors sharing similar experiences.

“It’s crazy that this keeps happening,” McRae admits.

McRae says he is in the process of submitting a report to Hamilton County officials.

She says she would like to see engineers install traffic calming measures on the highway to slow drivers down and help provide more traction.

Until that happens, he says he’ll have to hold his breath.

“I always know there will be car accidents,” McRae says. “We hope none happen, but that’s never been the case and it’s going to rain this week, that’s in the forecast, so I’m sure there will be more car accidents.”

Another area resident tells FOX19 NOW they have filed several reports with the county, but have not received a response.

FOX19 NOW has reached out to the Hamilton County Engineer and is waiting to hear back.
