Cleveland Browns offensive star opens up about ‘shocking’ decision

It looks more and more like cleveland browns and offensive tackle Jedrick Wills will part ways in the offseason.

Wills was benched for the Browns’ loss to the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 9 after the lineman did not play the previous week against the Baltimore Ravens.

The former first-round pick was suffering from a knee injury before the Ravens game, so he decided not to take the field.

Wills didn’t see anything wrong with sitting out against Baltimore, so it definitely took him by surprise to learn he would be benched against the Chargers.

“I mean, it was pretty shocking.” wills saidvia Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com. “I mean, I decided it myself, I made the business decision to not play after the Bengals game before the Ravens game because I was injured. And then the next week was when I got the news.”

Wills was healthy heading into the matchup with Los Angeles, so he thought he would be ready. But Cleveland obviously had other ideas.

So did Wills consider asking to be traded considering the trade deadline was two days after the Nov. 3 matchup against the Chargers?

“I mean, there really wasn’t enough time,” Wills said. “It was more like we were preparing for that Chargers game. So it was more like ready to play, if anything?”

Considering the Browns likely won’t re-sign Wills, trading him may have actually been the best way to go for both sides.

However, Cleveland opted to keep him, leading to a rather uncomfortable second half of the season.

Maybe this will all be a thing of the past soon, but it’s certainly something we should monitor for the remainder of the 2024 campaign.

The Browns had a bye last weekend. They will face the New Orleans Saints next Sunday.
