Former Riverside fire chief pleads guilty and case will go to trial

WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAW) – The former Riverside Fire Chief accused of sexual assault appeared in Marathon County Court Monday afternoon.

Robert Bowen, 53, is accused of child enticement and two counts of fourth-degree sexual assault. Prosecutors say she had an inappropriate relationship with a teenager.

On Monday, Bowen pleaded not guilty and waived his right to a preliminary hearing. The judge determined there was probable cause and ordered Bowen to appear in court to be arraigned and tried.

Bowen was placed on administrative leave in the spring and then resigned from the fire department in August. The Rothschild Village administrator has confirmed that none of the alleged misconduct occurred in the fire department.

Bowen’s next court appearance is scheduled for December 17.
