The superintendent of Ky. responds after school choir song causes controversy on social media

PULASKI COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) – A Kentucky superintendent issued a statement after a school choir song caused some controversy on social media.

Superintendent Patrick Richardson told WKYT that the Northern High School choir teacher was trying to get President-elect Trump’s attention with a song called “Trump It!”

Richardson issued this statement about what happened:

The teacher was overzealous in her attempt to get President-elect Trump’s attention with the song in question, “Trump It!” The Northern Middle School Choir has performed for both Governors Beshear, both of whom are Democratic. In 2016, the high school choir was asked to sing at President Trump’s presidential inauguration. She applied to go to Biden’s inauguration, but the choir was not chosen. The teacher thought it would catch President-elect Trump’s attention because of its quirky little rhythm. The intention of the song was to get him invited back to the next presidential inauguration. The time to present the song was not appropriate considering that it was immediately after the elections. The teacher has been approached about the inappropriateness of the situation.
