Kyle Richards was “terrified” to have a “difficult” conversation about her evolving sexuality with her daughters, but the “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star breathed a sigh of relief when she received widespread support.

“It was the hardest conversation I’ve ever had with my kids and I was terrified to have that conversation. “I just wanted to be as honest as possible,” she says. “Virtual Royal Tea” by Page Six to open up to Farrah, 36, Alexia, 28, Sophia, 24, and Portia, 16.

“There were stories about me and… this made me wonder, you know, and question myself.”

As Richards, 55, explains in the upcoming season 14 premiere of “RHOBH,” she began to question her sexuality as speculation about the status of his relationship with Morgan Wade ran rampant online and in the media.

“I’ve never really thought like that before. This is not the way I was raised. My mind didn’t even work like that,” he says of his mental state before addressing his children.

“And suddenly I was thinking like that and I wanted to be as honest as possible with them because they are my best friends.”

Richards also wanted to make it clear to Farrah, who she shares with her ex-husband Guraish Aldjufrie, and to Alexia, Sophia and Portia, with whom she shares. separated husband Mauricio Umansky – that they should never feel ashamed of participating in a sensitive discussion themselves.

“I like to lead by example and I thought, ‘You know, if this is what I’m going through and feeling, I want them to always feel comfortable enough to share the most difficult conversations with me and know that they will be accepted. no matter what happens,’” ​​says the mother of four.

Richards marvels at her children’s immediate acceptance of her newfound fluency.

“Having that conversation, her reaction and response to me, I thought, ‘Wow, I mean, I’m so impressed by these four women in front of me,’” the “Halloween” actress says. “And I thought, ‘Maybe, just maybe, I did a good job,’ because that was my proudest moment as a mom, just seeing how everyone reacted.”

Months later, Richards says she and her daughters feel comfortable enough to even joke about the situation, a level of levity she appreciates after filming a “tough” season of “RHOBH” marked by her first exit from a scene. and a particularly heated breakup with her former close friend Dorit Kemsley.

“For me to have your support, regardless of what’s going on in my life, means the world to me. They just want me to be happy. After we got through that difficult part of the conversation, the banter that followed! she tells “Virtual Reali-Tea” with a laugh, gushing about the women’s mother-daughter dynamic.

As for her relationship with Wade, Richards says she’s taken a step back after spending so much time with the 29-year-old country singer.

“I think she just didn’t want to have anything to do with my role (on) reality television and everything that comes with it,” says the Bravolebrity, who has appeared on “RHOBH” since its inception in 2010.

“And, you know, the paparazzi and all that was very overwhelming. So I understood and respected that… I’m an open book, but I can’t talk about other people’s life experiences when they haven’t signed up to do this and don’t want to be a part of this… I think anyone would . overwhelmed in that situation.”
