More bleeding control kits sent across Sandwell

Members of Smethwick Neighborhood Policing Team and Sandwell Council have been delivering life-saving equipment in Bearwood, with four kits being delivered on this occasion.

The kits, from the Daniel Baird Foundation, are filled with first aid equipment specifically designed to stop significant blood loss after something like a stabbing or a collision.

They can be used by trained first responders, including staff where the kits are stored, or by anyone following the instructions of ambulance call center staff answering 999 emergency calls.

They also come with instructions inside the package.

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: “The kits help in the vital minutes before paramedics or fully trained doctors arrive on scene and are a complement to regular first aid kits and defibrillators.

“Your location is registered with West Midlands Ambulance Service, which means that in an emergency you may be told to go or send someone to that location to collect the equipment.

“Many schools, universities and companies also have their own kits.

“The West Midlands Violence Reduction Partnership includes West Midlands Police and Sandwell Council.

“In October, officers were distributing kits around Oldbury.

“You can find this on the interactive map of bleeding control kit locations on the Police and Crime Commissioner’s website.

“As well as providing bleeding control kits in case the worst happens, together we offer educational programs and diversionary activities, while the police focus on using their stop and search powers, arresting suspects and lobbying for long prison sentences. jail.

“This week we took part in Operation Scepter, a stepped-up operation led by the national police to put an end to knife crime.

“Knife crime in the West Midlands has fallen by 17 per cent in people under 25.”
