ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Florida (WALA) – An Alabama man now faces charges of vehicular manslaughter and DUI manslaughter after a juvenile died days after a crash in Florida’s Escambia County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Shawn Wilber of Daphne was arrested Sunday by FHP on an active warrant stemming from the crash that occurred Wednesday.

Authorities said a juvenile victim died Saturday as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.

The highway patrol said the crash involved a Toyota pickup truck that was struck by a Dodge Ram driven by Wilber. The crash occurred on Interstate 10 near mile marker 9 shortly after 9 p.m. Wednesday.

Wilber was originally charged and arrested for DUI causing serious bodily injury the night of the accident. He posted bond and was released from the Escambia County Jail.

The charges increased after the death of the minor.
