Deontae Lawson intercepted LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier for the first interception of his career Saturday night.

Lawson jumped into the air to secure the interception. Teammate and Alabama linebacker Jihaad Campbell knew what was coming when he watched the LSU wide receivers’ routes develop.

“He picked up that ball in practice, a few times,” Campbell said. “So I knew once that route was happening, I knew he was going to take the ball away. But honestly, when I turned around, I really couldn’t believe I caught the ball. “I am very proud of my brother and I love playing with him.”

The Mobile, Alabama native finished the game with seven total tackles, one tackle for loss and the interception.
