GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) – The last supermoon of 2024 rises in mid-November, it’s the Beaver Full Moon.

Beaver’s full moon reaches maximum illumination on Friday, November 15 at 4:28 p.m.

This is the last of the four supermoons seen in the year 2024. The previous supermoons were: the Blue Moon in August, the Harvest Moon in September and the Hunter Moon in October.

A supermoon occurs when a full moon falls near the point where the Moon is closest in its orbit to the Earth. The moon usually appears larger and brighter than normal.

The name ‘Beaver moon’ comes from the time when beavers begin to retreat to their lodges, after preparing for the upcoming winter season.
