    Jared Goff and the Detroit Lions are locked in a defensive battle against the Houston Texans, and Goff threw five interceptions heading into the fourth quarter.

    The 30-year-old quarterback had thrown just four interceptions all season entering Sunday night’s game.

    This is the first NFL game with seven or more combined interceptions since December 9, 2018.
    Jared Goff was also involved in that game, throwing four interceptions against Mitchell Trubisky (3 INT) as the Bears beat the Rams 15-6.

    Texans quarterback CJ Stroud also threw two interceptions in the game.

    Fans flooded social media to criticize Goff, who threw one touchdown against his five interceptions in the first three quarters.

    There were idiots out there trying to pretend that Jared Goff belonged in a conversation with Lamar Jackson for MVP. Damn fools.

    Goff ultimately completed 15 of 30 passes for 240 yards with two touchdowns and five total interceptions.

    In the end, Goff’s interceptions did not derail the Lions’ hopes, as they rallied with 19 unanswered points to secure a 26-23 comeback victory over the Texans, thanks to kicker Jake Bates.

    Goff had been on fire over the last three games, completing 88.0 percent of his passes against the Minnesota Vikings, 80 percent against the Tennessee Titans and 81.8 percent against the Green Bay Packers.

    His last interception came in a 20-13 Week 3 win over the Arizona Cardinals.

    The Lions will play the Jacksonville Jaguars next Sunday at home.
