Manchester United are reportedly still looking for a Norwegian midfielder compared to Martin Odegaard after being convinced he would fit perfectly into Ruben Amorim’s style.

Amorim is about to embark on his new challenge as Manchester United manager and will have less control over transfers compared to his predecessors who held the manager title. However, it will be up to managers like Dan Ashworth to identify targets that will be useful to the new man on the touchline.

A player who Manchester United Scouts have already been looking at Sverre Nypan, a midfielder who has already been compared to Odegaard in his native Norway.

And the latest update of Give me sport confirms that Man Utd are still keeping an eye on the teenager, even though they are now putting together a team for a different manager than the one who first caught their attention.

The report claims Man Utd have been “seriously pursuing” Nypan, who turns 18 in December but has already made 50 top-flight appearances for Rosenborg.

The recruiting team now believes that Nypan would fit well with Amorim’s potential tactics. Furthermore, the threat of other clubs getting ahead of them could encourage them to finalize their plans.

But Man Utd are in no hurry yet, with the report confirming that they will wait until December at the earliest to decide their plans for the next two transfer windows and whether or not to pursue individual targets like Nypan.

Under their new recruitment structure, modified since Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his INEOS group bought the club, Man Utd have been trying to focus on players with long-term potential.
