You were part of the rebellion against the PPD in 2024: Northern group hits Lamido

A northern Nigerian group, the Northern Youth Movement (NYM), has taken on the former governor of Jigawa State, Alhaji Sule Lamido, over his recent comments on the affairs of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Lamido had been harsh on the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Chief Nyesom Wike, calling him “a little boy in the history of the PDP” and asking him “where he was in 1999”.

However, in a statement made available to DAILY POST on Sunday, signed by its president, Mallam Ishaya Jato, the NYM reminded Lamido that those he continued to refer to as children and boys were the ones who did not let the PDP die.” in the wake of the 2014 rebellion in which he (Lamido) played prominent roles before retiring.”

The youth group said it was ironic that those who were children when the PDP was formed have reached maturity and are now parents of many political children, while some of the elders of 1998 still act like children.

According to the group, “It is not surprising that after being Minister and Governor for eight years, an old man like Lamido had no other person in Jigawa State to present as the PDP gubernatorial candidate other than his own son.

“If in the opinion of Lamido, who became a political elder at the age of 50, Wike, 57, is still a little boy, we wonder what he (Lamido) has become 36 years after becoming an elder. Should he now be seen as an ancestral elder of the PDP?”

They accused Lamido of similarly disparaging former presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, as well as former vice president Atiku Abubakar.

“Two years ago, Lamido publicly said that ‘Obasanjo was an unknown prisoner when the PDP was formed.’ Ironically, he continued to admonish Obasanjo to stop speaking ill of people in public.

“In 2019, it was Atiku whom Lamido described as his junior in politics, saying he was in the House of Representatives in 1979 when Atiku was still an employee of the Nigerian Customs Services.

“As acting governor of the PDP, Lamido was everywhere belittling President Jonathan, calling his government a failure.

“Even out of office, Lamido has continued to belittle President Jonathan.

“We are therefore not surprised that ever since Lamido and others tricked Atiku into losing the 2023 presidential election, making him see himself as the president-in-waiting, more than seven months before the election, he has been venting his frustration and anger. on Wike, only because he, along with other governors like Seyi Makinde, Samuel Ortom, Okezie Ikpeazu and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi refused to be treated like children in their own party,” the group added. reclaimed.

DAILY POST recalls that the PDP is yet to recover from its defeat in the 2023 presidential election, and a major leadership crisis has plagued the party since then.
