A six-year-old girl was fatally injured in a serious accident involving three cars.

One of the vehicles appeared to have crossed onto the opposite side of Chorley Old Road in Bolton at around 22:30 GMT on Saturday, Greater Manchester Police said.

The girl and two other people were taken to the hospital.

The force has appealed for anyone with information or images of the crash to come forward.

Officers said one of the cars was traveling east on the highway before crossing to the opposite side at the intersection with Avenue Street.

Another vehicle was traveling in the opposite direction and the vehicles collided.

A third vehicle exiting the intersection was also struck, police said.
