One person was “seriously injured” after a car plunged into water in a Devon town, police said.

Devon and Cornwall Police said they received a call at 08:40 GMT on Sunday after a car entered the water outside the lifeboat center in Dartmouth.

The Maritime and Coastguard Agency said ambulance, firefighters, RNLI and HM Coastguard rescue helicopter were at the scene.

“One person, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, is believed to have been seriously injured,” police said.
