Oakford crash: Friends of crash victim Jady Turner cause outrage over dangerous tribute

Grieving colleagues of Oakford crash victim Jady Turner have held a dangerous tribute by making burns on the busy road where the 22-year-old died.

A car was seen burning and speeding away from the crash site on Thomas Road on Sunday, shortly after occupants laid flowers on the verge where it died.

The maneuver caused traffic to come to a standstill.

Other friends who were there left more peaceful tributes as they were forced to face the reality of life without their friend.

“(He was) full of life. Always there for his friends, his family, everyone,” they told 7NEWS.

“He had a big heart. He celebrated a lot. “He was a good guy.”

Turner suffered fatal injuries after his orange Holden Commodore Ute collided with a convoy of large HGVs shortly after 6.30am on Saturday.

The orange Holden Commodore ute and a red Ford Falcon sedan were traveling west at speed along Thomas Road at the same time as a convoy of large HGVs was traveling east.

Police say the pickup truck did not stop to let the convoy pass and instead clipped the oversized load before losing control and crashing into the rear pilot vehicle, a white Ford Ranger.

The 75-year-old man driving the pilot vehicle suffered serious injuries and was taken to the same hospital, where he remains in stable condition.

Highway Police Commander Mike Bell revealed on Saturday that the 20-year-old driver of the Ford Falcon had failed a preliminary breath test after the incident and returned a positive alcohol reading.
