Explosion at Hyderabad restaurant damages six cabins, two people injured

An explosion at a restaurant in Hyderabad’s upscale Jubilee Hills damaged six nearby cottages on Sunday, November 10. Two people were reportedly injured in the incident. The blast occurred at Telangana Spice Kitchen on Jubilee Hills road number one.

According to police, the explosion damaged the boundary wall of the hotel. Some of the stones and cement bricks from the wall flew through the air and fell on huts about 20 meters away.

Six huts were damaged in the incident, which caused panic among the people of Durga Bhavani Nagar Basti. Some electric poles were also knocked down by the impact of the explosion.

The police rushed to the scene. Two people suffered minor injuries.

The clue team and bomb disposal squad were on site to gather clues. Personnel from the Disaster Response Force (DRF) and fire services also rushed to the spot. Police later said they suspect a refrigerator compressor exploded at the hotel, causing the accident.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Vijay Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police Venkatagiri and other senior officials visited the spot and spoke to the hotel management.

Khairatabad MLA Danam Nagender also visited the spot and spoke to the residents. Those affected demanded compensation from the government.

An injured woman said stones flying through the air under the impact of the explosion fell on houses. He added that some household items were damaged.

Another resident said each house suffered a loss of between Rs 50,000 and Rs 1 lakh and urged the government to provide them compensation.

The incident left neighbors shocked. Most people were sleeping in their huts when the explosion occurred.

A police officer said further investigation into the incident was underway.

Meanwhile, the restaurant announced that it will be closed for renovations for the next 15 days.
