Most fans assume Reilly is American, not the soft-spoken Brit she actually is.

She tells me that when she started Yellowstone, she “didn’t do any press” because she wanted people to believe in her character.

“People talk to me like Beth is real,” he says. “We all talk about Beth as if she were a real-life person.

“I’ll always be a little disappointed when people meet me. I go to the local bakery and the lady says, ‘I’d love to drink with you.’

“I know what you mean: He wants to drink with Beth. People want to feel a part of that energy… someone so connected to their primary self.

“And we’re so disconnected. We’re all on our phones, on social media. It’s like it doesn’t happen if someone doesn’t take a photo of it. Beth is the opposite of that. She’s so alive.”

To say that Reilly’s character has been through some tough times would be an understatement.

Beth has survived attempted rape, attempted murder, crushing heartbreak, and betrayal from family members.

He even exclaims, “I am the rock that therapists break against.”

Reilly describes Beth as a “powerhouse” and tells me it’s been “a really fun adventure.”

“I’m very introverted,” she adds. “I don’t have any dreams of revenge in my life.

“There’s something really exciting about playing it. I feel like I get an adrenaline rush for four months while I play it, and when I’m done I think, now I have to go back to my quiet, boring life. And I’m so grateful for my quiet, boring life afterwards. having played her.

“But when summer comes and I’m preparing again and the scripts start arriving, I get excited again to meet her.

“I’m very aware of the gift she has as a character, but I lock her in a locked box for six months of the year.”
