Woman murdered by husband and brother-in-law after dispute; both arrested

Police said the confrontation began as a domestic dispute and ended in tragedy when Rahul reportedly lost his temper and allegedly stabbed Sonia multiple times.

A 30-year-old woman was allegedly stabbed to death by her husband and his elder brother after a heated argument on Friday night in Sarfabad locality in Sector 73, police said on Saturday. Both men were reportedly arrested shortly after the incident, they added.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Ram Badan, 35, the situation escalated when Sonia and Pankaj started fighting over a personal matter. Pankaj’s brother Rahul, 36, tried to intervene, but his involvement allegedly turned violent and eventually resulted in a fatal attack on Sonia.

“Upon initial investigation, it was revealed that Sonia and Pankaj had been married for about 10 years and had two children, a six-year-old son and a three-year-old son,” said DCP Badan.

Police said the confrontation, which began as a domestic dispute, escalated and ended in tragedy. Rahul reportedly lost his temper during the fight and allegedly stabbed Sonia several times in the neck and stomach, they added. The incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. on Friday, according to police.

Officers from Sector 113 police station in Noida said Pankaj and Rahul were detained after the incident. They were prosecuted under sections 101(1) for murder, 103(1) for punishment of murder (which can lead to death penalty or life imprisonment with fine) and 61 (for criminal conspiracy) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita ( BNS). , the officers said.

Sonia’s body was sent for an autopsy to confirm the exact cause of death, they added.
