New London Police Provide New Details About Apartment Complex Shooting That Left 2 Injured, 1 Dead

NEW LONDON, Ohio (WOIO) – The New London Police Department released new information regarding the shooting at the Windy Acres assisted living apartment complex.

19 News reported Friday that a resident of a New London assisted living facility died after shooting two employees before turning the gun on himself, and police have additional details of the moments afterward in a statement Saturday.

According to the release, around 10:52 p.m., Huron County Dispatch informed officers of an active shooter inside the complex located at 96 Clifton St.

A New London officer responded to the scene along with two nearby Huron County deputies, according to the release.

When the officer arrived at the entrance, they located the two injured victims locked in the main office.

The two victims escaped through a window and were transported by emergency medical services to different hospitals, according to the statement.

According to police, the conditions of these victims are unknown, but they believe their injuries are not life-threatening.

Upon entering the building, officers said they found a dead man, who was later identified as a resident of the complex, in the lobby.

The man died from self-inflicted gunshot wounds.

According to New London police, the motive is still being investigated.

The names of the victims and the shooter have not been released at this time, according to the statement.
