Police cordon on the street while forensics search the house

A 33-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault

A man has been arrested after another was seriously injured in an assault in Rochdale.

Police were called to reports of the incident on Holmes Street shortly before 12.30pm on Friday (November 8). A 42-year-old man was seriously injured after being attacked.


However, his injuries are not “life-threatening or life-changing,” according to Greater Manchester Police (BPF). A 33-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing forensic officers combing a house on the street, a short distance from Rochdale town centre, today (Saturday). Images from the scene show a cordon in front of the property and two police vehicles parked outside.


In a statement, a GMP spokesperson said: “We were called yesterday (Friday 8 November) shortly before 12.30pm. A 33-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault. The injuries are serious but fortunately they do not put in danger of his life or change.”
