One night, I got up, went to the living room and listened to my parents talking. They said, “If Tatsuki continues like this, he may not find a normal job and become a NEET. Should we help him?

He further added that he is immensely happy to have achieved his dream job and that not only was he able “make a living from manga” but also contribute to society.

I’m very happy to be able to make a living today from manga and sit here for an interview, contributing to society.

The author’s words were profound and something everyone could relate to. However, he did not lose faith and opened up about the driving force that made chainsaw man his greatest work and left a lasting impression on fans.

Tatsuki Fujimoto never gets too attached to his job

In 2022, The Shonen Jump guide to making manga was released, consisting of a series of interviews with popular and well-known names in the manga industry. The manga artist explained that either of the two things would happen, meaning he “alter the main character” or build a new plot completely from scratch. He said,

When I hit a plot roadblock, I either modify the main character or scrap that part of the plot entirely. I understand why people become attached to their work, but if you spend all day looking at your own story, you are bound to lose that essential objectivity. Don’t fall too much in love with anything you do. Kill your loved ones.

With such a strong mentality of not giving up and making the necessary changes so that your story does not stop is inspiring. This is because sometimes artists would develop an attachment to their work, which could develop poorly, affecting their work, causing fans to criticize them.
