Four men arrested in connection with stolen trucks across the Valley

PHOENIX — Four men were arrested last Friday in connection with an investigation into stolen trucks throughout the Valley.

Court documents say the men were involved in a “stolen vehicle ring that steals high-end pickup trucks from the Phoenix metropolitan area and hires other accomplices to drive them to the southern border for profit.”

The men allegedly stole 20 trucks from across the Valley, valued at more than $1 million. Court documents describe trucks stolen in several Valley cities, including Waddell, Phoenix, Mesa, Gilbert and Glendale.

Douglas Zelaya, 18, Luis Brando Rodriguez, 19, Andrew Nathan Reyes, 20, and Jorge Aguilar, 34, were arrested in connection with the robberies.

Court documents show Aguilar would scout and facilitate the robberies to sell in Mexico for approximately $8,000 each. The documents also allege that it would provide the means to mask the identity of stolen vehicles with fake temporary license plates.

Investigators discovered that the men were using an electronic key-making device to unlock and operate the vehicles.

Authorities had monitored the four men, according to court documents.

One of the trucks monitored by authorities was followed to Gila Bend before DPS officers stopped it. The documents say the driver confirmed he had been paid approximately $700 to drive the truck to the border.

A theft described in court documents occurred on Oct. 2, when a blue Chevrolet Silverado was stolen in the Waddell area. The video showed two men getting out of a white Chevrolet Camero, one broke into the truck while the other pointed an AK47-style pistol at the front door area of the residence. Another surveillance video in the same area showed a white GMC truck being stolen in the same area, followed by a white Camero.

MCSO confirmed the two incidents were related.

ABC15 spoke with a man whose Truck was stolen in Waddell in early October, who provided video showing a man pointing a gun at his front door as another man broke into the truck. We are working to confirm that this is the same incident described in court documents.

The Maricopa County Prosecutor’s Office filed fraud charges against the four men. The filing states that the plan took place between February 24 and November 1, 2024.
