The former president’s family Uhuru Kenyatta has gone into mourning after the death of William Maina Gakuo.

Who is Maina Gakuo?

An obituary in a local newspaper states that Gakuo was the brother of Margaret Kenyatta, making him the brother-in-law of former president Uhuru Kenyatta.

Gakuo was the husband of Sheila Wanjiku Mwangi and uncle of the late Noni, Jomo and Achola, Lena and Bulisa, Ngina and Alex, and Muhoho and Chizi.

Family and friends will gather at the home of the late Maina Gakuo in Karen on Saturday, November 9 and Sunday, November 10 for funeral arrangements.

“The service will be on Tuesday, November 12 at 10:00 am at the Hindu Crematorium followed by cremation,” the statement read in part.

However, it is known that Uhuru met Margaret through his brother Gakuo, which led to their lasting marriage.

The late Gakuo kept a low profile, and most of his life was private and out of the public eye.
