News4 Announces 2024 People’s Choice!

DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) – The high school football regular season has come and gone.

In addition to being able to see incredible action on the field, it’s no secret that we ate well this season under the Friday night lights.

News4 has had the joy of traveling from school to school to put Friday Night Foodie’s best-selling menu items to the test.

Now it’s time for the playoffs. This year, we wanted to have a little fun and hear what your favorite menu item was this season. Let’s take a trip to the past.

Foodies started the season in Dale County to try Warrior’s best-selling seasoned fries. Each batch is seasoned to perfection. Of course, we had to cover them with cheese, what is a football game without fries with cheese?

We packed our equipment and went on a trip to Geneva County to try the decades-old recipe for chili dogs. This is a family recipe. Did you know they have a back window to sell them to people who aren’t even in the game? Be sure to grab a bite to eat next time you’re driving on a Friday night in the fall.

When you think of a football game, a hamburger often comes to mind. That’s why we went to Abbeville to put this classic menu item to the test. It was the homecoming of Hive Nation and these burgers are worth coming home for.

The western side of Wiregrass is known for its hot dogs. Geneva The classic dogs were a success. Every bite is grilled to perfection.

The fifth week was a blast from the past with the Slocomb horned dogs We first tried them at the National Peanut Festival fairgrounds in 2023, but we loved them so much we had to encourage the Red Tops to eat one. These are a tradition for this school.

He Houston County The lions did not disappoint with their BBQ nachos. Like many of these food stalls, this barbecue is a family recipe. That’s what makes you love and appreciate every bite so much. This barbecue was all about fries, French fries, and sandwiches.

Week seven we went back to the dogs with poplar Best selling dachshunds. The secret to great flavor has to stay in the bears’ den, but fans loved every bite.

News4 took a trip to Kinston Try not one, but two of their delicious dishes. What is dinner without dessert? We started the meal with chicken wings with homemade BBQ sauce and finished it off with a sweet funnel cake. Salty and sweet for the best of both worlds at a soccer game.

As the season progresses, so does the clock for the National Peanut Festival. The holiday week we are heading towards carroll for its famous boiled peanuts. Eagles flocked to this fast seller’s stall.

To round out the Friday Night Foodie season, we went to Coffee County to put on the Company Wildcats burgers to the test. Something special about this trip, this menu item was sports supporting sports. These burgers were grilled by the head baseball coach and pitching coach to feed the football fans. It was a night full of school spirit and Wildcat pride.
