20-year-old arrested after stealing golf cart from church in Oconee Co.

WALHALLA, SC (FOX Carolina) – The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office said a man was arrested after a limousine-style golf cart was stolen from a church in October following an investigation.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, they were notified of the theft on Sunday, October 6.

Evidence obtained by officers revealed that a woman and a man entered Calvary Church on Saturday, October 5, and took the car off the property toward Highway 123.

Authorities said the car was recovered abandoned in a field on E. Street near E. Londsdale Street in Utica Mill Hill near Seneca on Monday, October 7. The car was returned to the church.

Officers later identified the suspects as a 16-year-old girl and 20-year-old Michael Ian LeClear.

LeClear was arrested Oct. 25 on charges of grand larceny. He was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center and released on Wednesday, November 6, on a $10,000 recognizance bond.
