Ada County, ID (CBS2) — Samson Allen The young man who went viral after a Meridan police officer slammed him to the ground and knelt on his neck was in court Friday.

According to court documents, Allen waived his right to a speedy trial and changed attorneys, voiding his jury trial that was scheduled to begin Nov. 13.

Allen is scheduled to return to court on Dec. 19, when the court is expected to set a new date for his trial, but his parents hope the court will dismiss or dismiss the misdemeanor charge entirely.
