Flagler County teen arrested after alleged school shooting threat

A 16-year-old girl from Florida has been arrested for allegedly threatening online to shoot up a high school in Flagler County.

The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office said it received a tip from the FBI on Friday about a possible school shooting threat involving a Flagler Palm Coast High School student.

Officers identified the student and alerted the school resource officer, who quickly located the student and confirmed there were no weapons on campus while additional officers responded.

According to authorities, the teen admitted to posting a message on social media that said, “I forgot to use setting spray. I’m going to shoot up the school.”

She was arrested and charged with making written or electronic threats to kill or cause bodily harm.

“The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office takes all threats seriously, especially those directed at a school or its students,” said Sheriff Rick Staly. “Parents, I once again implore you to be the sheriff in your home and talk to your children. Making a careless comment like this has serious consequences. We don’t like to arrest your child, but we will ensure the safety of Flagler County. “I want thank the FBI for sending us the notice, allowing our agents to act quickly.”

The teen was processed at Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Center and released to her parents.
