Part of Auckland’s South Highway was closed after a serious accident near Takanini, while a main road was also closed in Te Atatū.

Emergency services were working at the scene of a two-car crash near the suburb of Conifer Grove on Saturday afternoon, police said.

The accident was declared around 12:30 p.m.

“Early indications are that one person has been seriously injured,” police said in a statement.

“The northbound motorway is currently closed in the area and detours are in place.”

Drivers have been asked to avoid the area and find another route.

Waitematā accident

A major road in Te Atatū was also closed after a serious accident on Saturday morning, police said.

The accident between a car and a pedestrian was reported to the emergency services at around 11.40am.

One person was seriously injured.

Te Atatū Road was closed between Titoki Street and Royal View Road. Detours were implemented and drivers were told to expect delays.
