Freddie Freeman reveals what Shohei Ohtani does on Dodger flights in a chat with Travis Kelce and his brother Jason

Shohei Ohtani’s favorite activity during flights with his Dodgers teammates has been revealed by Los Angeles star Freddie Freeman during a recent appearance on Travis and Jason Kelce’s podcast.

Ohtani and Freeman have been teammates for only one season, and the Dodgers won the World Series in dominant fashion last month.

The Japanese star detailed that Ohtani does the same thing on every flight, regardless of the length of the road trip.

“The only thing I can say is, when he gets on the plane, he literally reads comics the entire flight, like anime comics. And that’s what he reads the entire flight,” Freeman said.

However, Freeman did not say which Ohtani’s favorite anime comic is, as many have a fan base in the United States.

Ohtani joined the Dodgers this season on a massive $700 million contract, most of it deferred.

Ohtani signed a 10-year, $700 million contract last offseason, with $68 million of his annual contract start deferred.

The Japanese star is not short of cash, still earning $2 million a year and plenty of off-the-field brand deals.

Freeman also revealed that Ohtani is happy to leave his credit card behind when the check arrives at team meals.

‘We actually split the last one. We had a team dinner in New York and yes, Shohei and I shared it with (Clayton) Kershaw.’

It’s unclear where the team went, but knowing New York City prices for a good meal, it wasn’t a cheap outing for the team.

The Dodgers are already big favorites to repeat as baseball champions as the team looks to pursue Juan Soto in free agency.
