KANSAS CITY, MO – It’s a big weekend for KC Current fans this weekend as the team heads into the first game of the postseason.

“Kansas City is going to be like the center of women’s soccer and it’s going to be amazing to see it, to get that publicity, to have the stadium showcased on a national level,” fan William Johnson said.

This year there is a lot of praise for the women in red and teal, but also for many of the fans.

“I’m glad the stadium exists, the training facilities and all the praise they’re getting, so they can feel the success and reward of all the work they put in. And I’m glad my daughters get to see it, so they know there’s a fair shot for them too,” Johnson said.

For many fans, it’s more than just the atmosphere, it’s the work the team does off the field as well.

“Their drive, their commitment to each other,” current KC player Temwa Shawinga said in an interview this season, “I’m making a name for myself, but I’m not making a name for myself… think about what you have to do.” realize. “is that that statement doesn’t just apply to her teammates, to all the women and young girls who aspire to be future athletes,” said fan Jennifer Secor.

The Secors who have attended games with their daughters said supporting Current is unlike any other.

“CPKC is a vibe. It’s so fun, so energetic. “The fans are completely involved, completely committed,” Secor said.

This weekend, fans will bring out all the teal and red as Current takes on the North Carolina Courage, hoping for a championship here at home.

“The championship will be held here in Kansas City, so wouldn’t it be a better team to be here and win it right here in Kansas City. “I think they have a great chance,” Johnson said.

The start of the game will be this Saturday at 11:00 am.
