Man allegedly attacks Jefferson County resident with ax, arrested for attempted murder

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. (KKTV) – On Wednesday, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call about a disturbance at a home.

The sheriff’s office said they responded to a home in the 3400 block of Burnham Dr. around 8:45 after a concerned neighbor called for help.

According to the sheriff’s office, Bradley Lindsey, 35, was allegedly walking down the street when he told a neighbor to “call the police if they heard gunshots” and then entered a home. The neighbor, concerned about what she was told, immediately called 9-1-1.

When officers arrived, they found Lindsey and a 61-year-old man injured and in need of medical attention. The sheriff’s office said they believe Lindsey allegedly attacked the other man with a hatchet.

The sheriff’s office said the homeowner, David Dick, 74, said he didn’t know Lindsey, but still let him in when he got to the door. Dick said he planned to legally evict the 61-year-old victim, who had lived with Dick for several years. When Lindsey walked in, he allegedly said he planned to “take care” of the victim.

The victim was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. He was later treated and discharged. The sheriff’s office said Lindsey was arrested at the scene and booked into the Jefferson County Jail on suspicion of attempted first-degree murder.

The sheriff’s office continues to investigate this incident.
