VSP investigation into Cedar Bluff man’s disappearance 11 years ago continues

BLUEFIELD, W.Va. (WVVA) – Eleven years ago, a Cedar Bluff man left his home to go hunting and has not been seen since.

Virginia State Police continue to investigate the disappearance of Eric Grady Smith, which was initially a missing person case and has since been considered a possible homicide.

The VSP Criminal Investigation Bureau’s Wytheville Field Office is still searching for clues in the disappearance of Smith, who was 42 years old when she disappeared on November 8, 2013.

Smith was hunting along West Buggy Road in Tazewell County and was last seen wearing camouflage clothing. The VSP said he left his home that morning on foot, armed with a 50-caliber muzzleloader.

According to previous reports, he left his cell phone and cigarettes inside the house and his wallet in his truck. Many searches in the area yielded no results.

Smith is described as white, 6’1″ with brown hair and brown eyes and weighed about 210 pounds at the time of his disappearance.
