One dead and another seriously injured in wrong-way crash near Rapid City | News

RAPID CITY, SD – One person was killed and another suffered serious injuries Wednesday night in a two-vehicle collision on Interstate 90 near Rapid City.

According to preliminary information, the accident occurred when the driver of a 2007 Mazda 3, traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes near mile marker 53, collided head-on with a westbound 2001 Ford F350. The driver of the Mazda was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver of the Ford suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken for medical attention.

The names of those involved are being withheld until the family is notified. The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the incident and details remain preliminary.
