What will Donald Trump’s presidency mean for Prince Harry?

Election night is over and the result is clear: Donald Trump will become the 47th president of the United States. While MAGA fans revel, one couple in particular will be wondering exactly where this news will leave them.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have stayed away from endorsing any particular candidate and instead issued a statement via Archewell Foundation in September, which described voting as “a fundamental way to influence the destiny of our communities.” At the Archewell Foundation, we recognize that civic engagement, regardless of one’s political party, is fundamental to a more just and equitable world.”

However, it’s safe to assume that, like much of Hollywood, the couple leans Democratic, meaning they’re unlikely to greet the election result with much joy, especially considering meghan public denunciation of Donald Trump in the past. In 2016, before she even met (let alone married) Prince Harry, she told an American talk show that she found Trump “misogynistic” and “divisive,” adding that the prospect of him in the White House left her thinking. : “Maybe I’ll stay in Canada.” Two months later, she went on a date with the royal who would become her husband, and three months later, Trump was elected to office.

As a member of the royal family, Meghan was, and still is, expected to remain politically neutral. But when the next election was held four years later, she and Harry appeared in a videourging people to vote. Harry said they should “reject hate speech, misinformation and negativity online” (which many believed at the time was a thinly veiled attack on Trump) while Meghan tagged the race “The most important election of our lives.”
