Two people have been arrested after a man was seriously injured during a robbery.

Essex Police said the incident took place in Middleborough, Colchester, at 21:35 GMT on Wednesday.

Officers found an injured man, whose coat had allegedly been stolen, and took him to the hospital.

A 45-year-old man and a 41-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of robbery and taken into custody for questioning, police said.

Detective Inspector Tim Coyles said a police presence would remain on North Station Road as investigations continued.
