A man fleeing police found himself being “chased by cows” before being arrested, officers said.

The man came to the attention of police after reports of a vehicle on fire in North Deighton, Harrogate, in the early hours of November 3, according to North Yorkshire Police.

Police tracked the man and two other people to a VW Polo on the A168 near Hambleton, which refused to stop, even after officers used a stinger to puncture the vehicle’s tyres.

Two of the suspects later fled and one had “a brief encounter with some curious cows,” officers said.
