Selangor prepares special RM5,000 grant to help unregistered nursery operators

SHAH ALAM, Nov 7 (Bernama) — The Selangor government will introduce a special subsidy for nursery operators not registered in the state to register services and operations online from December.

State social welfare and women development exco Anfaal Saari said daycare operators would receive a maximum of RM5,000 of the total allocation of RM400,000 provided through the special grant.

“Last July, the unregistered daycare inspection committee under the Selangor Social Welfare Department (JKM) revealed that 128 unregistered daycare centers were operating in Selangor.

“The number has decreased compared to 407 last year and 600 daycare centers in 2022 as a result of the legitimation (registration) program carried out,” he said at the closing ceremony of the Selangor State Daycare Service Advocacy Program 2024 here on Thursday (Nov. 7). )

Earlier, in his speech at the ceremony, Anfaal said registered daycare operators would get many benefits, including tax exemptions and special government incentives.

“Similarly, if companies are interested in creating a corporate social responsibility program (in collaboration with a daycare center), registered daycare centers will certainly be their choice,” he said.

Anfaal said so far, about 3,000 nurseries are registered with JKM nationwide, 1,004 of them in Selangor.

He said of that number, five areas in the state recorded the highest number of daycare centers, namely Petaling, Hulu Langat, Subang Jaya, Shah Alam and Gombak. – Bernama
