Who are the candidates running in the Kerry constituency? Pa Daly (Sinn Féin), Michael Healy-Rae (Independent), Norma Foley (Fianna Fáil), Danny Healy-Rae (Independent); Maria Fitzgibbon (Independent); Michael Cahill (Fianna Fáil), Cleo Murphy (Green Party), Linda Gordon-Kelleher (Fianna Fáil), Billy O’Shea (Fine Gael), Michelle Keane (Independent), Catherina O’Sullivan (Aontú), Mary Fitzgibbon (Independent ), Thomas McEllistrim (Independent), Cian Prendiville (People Before Profit), Cleo Murphy (Green Party), Brandon Begley (Irish Freedom Party), Mike Kennedy (Labor Party).


No electoral district is ever registered, but it is difficult for any of the four incumbents to be replaced.

The Healy-Rae organization in Kerry is at least as powerful as that of either party, with three members of the third generation of the family topping their respective polls in local elections. Meanwhile, both brothers have indicated that they will remain as TDs for another term. Their vote may not reach the stratospheric heights of 2020 and 2016, but they can be guaranteed to be easily elected.

He Sinn Fein The brand may have lost some of its luster over the past year, but since Martin Ferris established a beachhead here, the party has a strong voter base, particularly in the north and northwest of the county. His justice spokesman, Pa Daly, is well known and appreciated by his opponents. At first glance, the big question is who will fill Brendan Griffin’s shoes?

fine gael It has only one candidate, former county footballer Billy O’Shea. Fine Gael has always had a quota here too, so O’Shea should have no problem retaining his party’s seat. Unlike Fine Gael, Fianna Fáil is fielding three candidates. Joining Foley are South Kerry councilor Michael Cahill and Linda Gordon-Kelleher, a Killarney lawyer who has been the party’s elections director in the constituency.

Kerry remains a five-seat party that respects county boundaries, one of the few constituencies that is in the happy position of doing so. The country’s big problems revolve around transportation, tourism, health and housing. Some of its cities have struggled due to changes in retail patterns. Fuel prices, the cost of living and public transport have also emerged as issues.

Possible result: Ind 2, FF 1, SF 1, FG 1.
