Just as Agatha was about to give birth, Death appeared to claim the child; However, the witch asked for more time and apparently got it by killing witches. The one night, at Nicky’s urging, that he didn’t, Death finally came for him and Agatha, ashamed of her actions, spent hundreds of years murdering her fellow wizards on the “Witches’ Way” to avoid meeting with the boy

Much has been said about who his father could be and, in a new interview, Agatha all the time Showrunner Jac Schaeffer dropped her biggest hint yet that Rio Vidal/Death conceived the child with the show’s main character.

“I will say (Laughs) that when we were casting we were sometimes thinking, ‘Does that kid look like Rio? Does that kid look like Aubrey Plaza?'” the writer and director joked. “The fans and viewers, yes, they are surely picking up on our brain waves.”

Schaeffer added: “I didn’t anticipate that the shippers would be so fervent. You never know how something is going to land or if people are going to care. The amount of people who care is amazing to me. I’m hopeful that in the MCU “There’s more analysis of Agatha and Rio’s backstory.”

This aligns with earlier comments about it not taking a man to conceive a child from a witch, and the fact that “Rio” had to carry his own child to the afterlife adds another tragic dimension to his past romance with Agatha.

There are many stories that could be told with an adult Nicky (especially if he really is an “Agent of Mephisto”). Still, as Schaeffer points out, most fans are still eager to learn more about Agatha and Death’s past… and to see Plaza reprise her role in the MCU as soon as possible.
