A rollover accident in Palmyra led to the arrest of a local man for driving while intoxicated, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office reported. Officers responded to a single-vehicle crash on North Creek Road on Nov. 4, where they found Lawrence Wedgwood, 60, and a passenger trapped inside the overturned vehicle.

The investigation revealed that Wedgwood was attempting to turn into a driveway when he lost control, causing the vehicle to go off the road and roll over. Both Wedgwood and his passenger were uninjured, but required assistance from the Palmyra Town Fire Department for extraction.

Officers determined that Wedgwood had been driving under the influence of alcohol and charged him with driving while intoxicated and moving unsafely out of his lane. He is scheduled to appear in Palmyra City Court at a later date to answer the charges.

The Sheriff’s Office thanked the Palmyra Town Fire Department for their assistance at the scene.
