JASPER, Texas (KTRE) – A Jasper man has been sentenced to federal prison for drug trafficking and firearms violations, according to U.S. Attorney Damien M. Diggs.

Larry Buckley, 44, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine, as well as being a felon in possession of a weapon. He was sentenced to 21 years in federal prison by U.S. District Judge Marcia A. Crone on November 6.

According to information presented in court, a joint investigation between federal, state and local authorities began in October 2022, identifying Buckley as a source of supply for a drug trafficking organization that distributes large quantities of methamphetamine in the Jasper and Lufkin areas, as well as the Sabine Parish, Louisiana area.

During the investigation, it was discovered that Buckley was supplying large quantities of methamphetamine to numerous people. Law enforcement officers were able to purchase methamphetamine and weapons directly from Buckley. Buckley has previously been convicted of several felonies, including engaging in organized criminal activity, manufacturing delivery of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, and burglary of a habitation. As a convicted felon, Buckley is prohibited by federal law from owning or possessing firearms or ammunition.

The case was investigated by the FBI; Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; Texas Department of Public Safety; and the Sabine Parish Sheriff’s Office. This case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Donald S. Carter.
