GAFFNEY, SC (FOX Carolina) – The Cherokee County Coroner’s Office said a man died after a motorcycle crash Wednesday.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol (SCHP) reports that a 2005 Honda motorcycle was traveling east on Hopewell Road near SC Highway 5 around 1:21 p.m. Wednesday.

A 2012 Rollback wrecker was stopped while facing west on Hopewell Road while attempting to turn left, SCHP said.

According to troopers, the motorcycle went off the right side of the road, overturned and slid across the road under the wrecker.

The Cherokee County coroner identified the motorcycle driver as Mark David Cook, 47, and said Cook was not wearing a helmet when he was thrown from the motorcycle.

He died from his injuries at Cherokee Medical Center shortly after 2:30 p.m.
