Man held without bail after fatally stabbing brother in Landover, officials say

A man is being held without bail for stabbing his brother to death in Landover, Maryland, on Monday, according to Prince George’s County officials.

Authorities said they charged Brilyen Kelly, 28, with first- and second-degree murder for allegedly stabbing her brother, 23-year-old Simi Kelly.

On Monday, police said they responded to the 8600 block of Reicher Street for a stabbing. When they arrived, officers said they found Simi suffering from trauma.

According to the police’s preliminary investigation, Brilyen allegedly stabbed Simi during an argument. Simi was taken to a local hospital, where he died a short time later.

During a hearing Wednesday, a judge agreed that Brilyen is a danger to the community, as well as a flight risk.

“We are pleased that he remains in custody and our office, specifically the Special Victims Unit, will work diligently to handle this very sensitive case. In addition to that, our office is actively collaborating with the Sheriff’s Office and other resource partners to help prevent family violence,” said State Attorney Aisha Braveboy.
