Alabama’s Jalen Milroe discusses the challenge ahead

No. 14 LSU (6-2, 3-1) will host the No. 11 Alabama Crimson Tide on Saturday night at Tiger Stadium for a battle between a pair of Southeastern Conference rivals.

It will be a matchup between two programs hoping to keep their College Football Playoff hopes alive in an electric Death Valley atmosphere.

Baton Rouge has been eager for the Alabama Crimson Tide to come to town for the rivalry showdown, and with the stakes high once again, it’s expected to be an impressive and energetic atmosphere once again.

Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe has seen what the stadium has to offer. He was in town two years ago as Bryce Young’s backup signal-caller.

Now is your chance to immerse yourself in the scenes of Tiger Stadium and feel the impact it has on opponents when they are on the field.

“I had an experience two years ago, we played LSU on the road and it’s definitely a place where the external factors are high as far as crowd noise goes, when it comes to the fans impacting the game as much as possible. ” Milroe said Tuesday. “Also the energy that is poured into the stadium.”

Milroe has been in impressive atmospheres as the starting signal-caller for Alabama. He’s a quarterback in the SEC where the stakes are high almost every weekend.

Even though Death Valley offers one of the loudest scenes in college football, Milroe has the road experience to maintain his composure in the moment.

“For us, when you play games like this away from home, the important thing is to be a great communicator. Being on the same page, starting fast, everyone being on the same page, and when we simplify the game in those key components, that will allow us to elevate our game and be as prepared as possible,” Milroe said.

“But the most important thing we try to do is eliminate bad plays, eliminate miscommunication and just try to get on the same page so we can be our best selves. And that is what will allow us to be our best selves, to be on the same page and have the right mindset.”

Brian Kelly and company expect another raucous crowd in Baton Rouge where the fans give the program a boost.

Just a month ago, the Ole Miss Rebels were headed to town, where the energy of the crowd gave LSU a boost down the stretch.

Now, Kelly and the staff are hoping for the same result in Week 11 against the Crimson Tide.

“Hopefully our crowd is loud and will lead to a lot of pre-snap penalties,” Kelly he said Monday. “That’s something we can look forward to. Maybe we’ll turn their lights off a couple of times. Let’s try everything. Other than that, it’s about maintaining composure. For us, we cannot be that team that gets scored on.”

No. 14 LSU will return to action on November 9 against the Alabama Crimson Tide with kickoff scheduled for 6:30 p.m. CT at Tiger Stadium.
