Jamie Lee Curtis’ message to mothers of trans children after the 2024 elections

Gutted doesn’t begin to describe how many Americans feel after the 2024 electionsespecially for parents who know what this means for our children’s future. The loss of bodily autonomy, the protection of our planet, health and safety, and so many other issues that former president and convicted felon Donald Trump has threatened to destroy. For parents of transgender children such as Jamie Lee CurtisThe future is uncertain and scary, and he just shared a powerful message of encouragement for everyone who is feeling hopeless right now.

He strange friday star, who is mother to her transgender daughters Ruby, 28, and Annie, 37, with husband Christopher Guest, shared a postcard of an Eagle holding an American flag and the words: “Your Flag and my flag, The Flag that flies above; The nation where we work and live, the country we love.”

In the caption, he wrote a lengthy post processing his feelings about the election, which Trump won. “So we already have the results. Many will be celebrating, possibly even gloating over their victory. Many will be stunned and saddened by the terrible feelings of loss. That’s the same outcome regardless of who wins, because that’s what America and democracy look like. It has always seemed that way. So what does it mean?

Curtis says the future holds “a safe return to a more restrictive time, which some fear is draconian.”

“Many fear that their rights will be hindered and denied. Many minority groups and young people will be afraid. “Homosexual and trans people will be more afraid,” he continued. “We know that many women will now find it difficult to get the reproductive health care they need and deserve. For all those people there will be those who will help you. “Me included.”

The tears have been flowing all morning, but Curtis’ words are a small balm for today’s distraught soul. She is all of our mothers, offering words of comfort and hope that we can then pass on to our children. And it is very, very necessary right now.

Despite the painful feelings, Curtis wants us to stay strong and “wake up and fight.” He continued: “Fight for women, our children and their future and fight tyranny, one day at a time. One fight at a time. One protest at a time. That’s what it means to be an American. “That’s what it has always meant and always will mean regardless of the outcome.”

It is very, very difficult to continue fighting. It feels impossible finally I feel like our country is moving forward and overcoming bigotry and hate, only to fall back into the nightmare reality that most Americans really don’t care about anything or anyone but themselves. Curtis recognizes that it is difficult and encourages grace for ourselves.

“Be nice to people today. Be kind to yourself today. Feel your feelings today but, above all, be an American today,” he concluded.

Many people expressed concern and fear about the future with Trump, who has made anti-transgender attacks and alarmist part of his campaign, back in command. “I am absolutely and genuinely terrified, not only for myself, but for those I love. “I can’t understand the logic and thought processes that would allow this to happen, and I feel like I have lost all faith in the future of this country,” one person commented.

Someone else wrote: “Thank you for this. I needed to read this. Mom of a trans adult and I am terrified for her, but I will never stop fighting to protect her.”

“We just hit the country’s reset button in the worst way possible. “I’m ashamed of people,” someone else said. Another wrote: “This is a nightmare. “I’m tired of having to fight for our rights… especially when we already had them and they were taken away from us.”

He Hallowe’en The student also shared a photo of Democrat Adam Schliff, who was elected to represent California in the United States Senate. “There is hope. He will be a strong voice in California and I believe he will be the future of our country. @repadamschiff,” she he captioned the post.

On Election Day, Curtis shared a photo from Vice President Kamala Harris, praising her for running as the Democratic candidate for president. “Whatever happens, I just want to say personally, on behalf of all the women and their daughters and granddaughters, sons and trans children and gay kids and EVERYONE EVERYWHERE AT ONCE, we all want to say THANK YOU for stepping up and participating in this race,” he wrote. “He has been a shining beacon of hope, possibilities and promises, and that has given us all hope, possibilities and promises, and that is worth all the efforts he has put into his campaign. Thank you Kamala. WE ARE PROUD OF YOU!”

Curtis has expressed his opinion on fighting climate changesupporting women with addiction strugglesand supporting transgender rights. We may have suffered a great loss today, but we can follow Curtis’ example and keep fighting, keep hoping, and keep doing everything we can to protect the future generation.
