Council investigates dangerous drainage problems at Lough Guitane

Kerry County Council engineers are investigating dangerous drainage problems on a road next to Lough Guitane.

This follows a motion by Killarney Borough Councilor John O’Donoghue which says a drainage system must be urgently installed on a section of L-3015 before the Finow Bridge, next to the entrance to the plant Lough Guitane water treatment plant.

Kerry’s Independent Alliance councilor recently proposed a motion that Kerry County Council Install a drainage system to avoid the serious flooding that occurs there every year.

Cllr O’Donoghue says it is extremely dangerous and poses a high risk of injury and aquaplaning, as drivers take a blind bend and fall straight into the water.

He said he is personally aware of two cars that broke down there last year due to waterlogging.

Cllr O’Donoghue has welcomed the council’s efforts to find funding for the works.
