But he has a history of repeating debunked claims, including linking vaccines to autism in children.

At an event in January 2022, he compared US vaccine mandates to Nazi laws.

Asked whether banning certain vaccines could be in the cards during a second term, Trump said he would talk to Kennedy about it and called him “a very talented guy” who has “strong opinions.”

Kennedy, nephew of former President John F. Kennedy, assassinated in 1963, initially ran as an independent candidate for president.

His father, Robert F. Kennedy, was assassinated in 1968 during his own bid for the presidency.

Before RFK Jr’s endorsement, Trump had pledged to create an independent commission on assassination attempts. after an attempt on his own life during the campaign.

The commission would be required to release the remaining redacted documents related to the assassination of Mr. Kennedy’s uncle.

He said in a speech that while he was a “ferocious critic” of Trump, they had found common ground on a desire to end the war in Ukraine.
