Paul George shares his thoughts on the final play against the Suns

After being shorthanded for the first five games of the season, the Philadelphia 76ers He got some much-needed reinforcements against the Phoenix Suns on Monday. After a bone bruise he suffered in the preseason, Paul George was finally able to make his regular season debut with his new team.

Seeing as he didn’t play much in the preseason, George was expected to look rusty in his first official game with the Sixers. That being said, the All-Star forward still looked good in Phoenix. Having him in the lineup was an additional boost for the small team.

In the final minutes of the game, the Sixers found themselves with the opportunity to get their second victory of the season. However, Kevin Durant had different plans. The former MVP dazzled down the stretch to keep the Suns ahead.

Despite an impressive fourth quarter from Durant, the Sixers only trailed by two on their final possession. George attempted to take matters into his own hands and deliver a huge bucket in the clutch. He took a back throw on Grayson Allen, but couldn’t get him to go down.

While speaking to reporters after the game, PG shared his thoughts on what was going through his head before the final play:

“Bad evaluation. I thought we were one down. “I thought when KD made the layup that he gave them one,” george said. “Otherwise, go for all three to try to win the game, rather than going for two to tie the game. After seeing it, another silly work.”

George logged 31 minutes in his first regular season game with the Sixers. He finished the night with 15 points, five rebounds and four assists on 4-of-14 shooting.
