Election security updates: More non-credible bomb threats sent to Atlanta area

A top cybersecurity and infrastructure security official said there is “no evidence” there was cheating in Philadelphia and Detroit as former President Donald Trump claimed.

“We have been in very close contact with state and local election officials across the country, and we see no data or reports to support these claims,” Cait Conley, senior advisor to the CISA director and chief elections officer, said in a call with reporters. .

At the national level, Conley said officials “are not currently tracking any significant incidents with nationwide impacts on election infrastructure security.”

Additionally, he said officials expect to see Russian disinformation actors taking advantage of false bomb threats that the Russians sent to Arizona, Georgia, Michigan and Wisconsin.

“We shouldn’t be surprised if we do,” he said in response to a question about Russian actors using fake bomb threats. “Our adversaries are specifically intent on taking advantage of opportunities to spin narratives that undermine trust.”
